Philosophy originally created in Japan in mid-1950 by Centre for Quality Education, led by Dr. Kaoru Ishikawa and his colleagues.
Focuses on the need to maintain order and cleanliness of the workplace by providing a pleasant environment to work without loss of time to find things, trying to hygiene and avoid disease, which affects the worker ergonomics and the company itself. For this to happen must implement and practice all the 5s from the disposal of superfluous things to the discipline by all employees.
Purpose:
Increasing the efficiency of the workplace by eliminating waste and creating a clean, hygienic and pleasant to work with, thereby maximizing the index of quality, safety and productivity of each activity
Some companies seek to consolidate the 5S's as well to meet the requirement 6.4 of ISO 9001.
